Personal Practice and Reflection

In the Pause, Rest, Lead® certification process, cultivating a personal rest practice and reflection is not optional. It is essential. This inner work is the heartbeat of our methodology and the foundation of your capacity to lead, coach, and facilitate from a place of deep integrity, nervous system awareness, and embodied presence.

Unlike intellectual knowledge that can be gained from books, rest reveals truths and insights that emerge only in stillness. Through sustained rest, your nervous system begins to settle and attune. This is where resonance becomes possible. From this regulated state, clarity arises naturally. You start to feel what is true, rather than forcing insight from the mind alone. These are the moments that shape transformational leadership—intuitive, relational, rooted.

This is also what sets Pause, Rest, Lead® practitioners apart. It's not about what you know or how well you perform; it’s about how deeply you’re sourced in rest. That depth cannot be faked, and though it may not be measured in traditional ways, it is always apparent—palpable in your presence, your listening, your pace, and your ability to hold space for others. Conversely, when someone attempts to lead or facilitate rest without their own embodied practice, it shows. The nervous system of the facilitator leads the room, and when that system isn’t rested, grounded, or coherent, it undermines the very transformation we aim to offer.

Because of this, we require all certification path candidates to:

Engage in at least 144 cumulative hours of structured rest practice over the course of the year.

Document their rest hours and reflection in writing after each practice.

Create a Summer Sadhana and engage in rest practice daily during Summer Sadhana, more details are here.

This is not passive time off, it is intentional, sacred, and developmental. It is how you build your capacity to lead from rest.

In addition to your personal rest hours, you’ll also commit to:

A minimum of two hours per week for coursework and reflection, engaging with the teachings, prompts, and frameworks that support integration and refinement of your leadership.

Rest is not just what you offer. It’s how you lead. If you are unable or unwilling to commit to practicing rest, certification is not the path for you at this time.
